Dedication to an amazing friend. ♥

Post by FlickStar on Thu Jul 26, 2012 2:13 am

The story of a very special beagle.. my baby Emmie. ♥

Hearts! ♥

When I was 5, a special thing came in my life. Extraordinary, infact. It was my dog, Emmie. A beautiful, lovely young beagle. She was a surprise, brought home in a cardboard box to me, my sister, and my brother. At the time, she could fit into my palm. Her big brown eyes promised so much, an everlasting friendship. From that moment on, she was my best friend. Every time when I would come home from school, she was there on the couch waiting for me every day. Every night, I talked to her and told her how my day was. I was never a social kid, and she was my only friend. She was always there for me. It's so difficult to type with all these tears on my keyboard.. anyways... I remember my dad bringing her out onto the step and howling at the moon with her, ahah. And when I use to go up to the top of the stairs and see if she could catch her favorite treats in her mouth, we had so much fun. Playing in my backyard and taking pictures with her. She wasn't trained, and would pee and poo on the carpet, she was also the runt of the litter she was born in, but she was beautiful in my eyes. One day, I found a lump on her leg.. so, we brought her to the vet, they tested it and it was non cancerous. We were all so happy. Little did we know, cancer was ravaging at her insides, and hiding. Turns out, she would pee and poo on the carpet because she was sick but we didn't know it. We yelled at her for it, and we all regret it. More lumps appeared on her stomache.. we brought her to the vet and they tested her and she had cancer... they did surgery, and removed all the cancer. My dad couldn't handle Emmie peeing and pooing on the carpet anymore, so he gave her away, which I understand, because my siblings were too lazy to pick it up, and I was 5 or 6, I was only allowed to walk her to the mailbox and back. He gave her away to a close family friend.. that day was the most hurtful for me, although I tried to hold it back and not be selfish because I knew she was going to a better home, a big acre with a lush farm with other dogs. I'm glad she spent her last months there. Anyways... the cancer returned there, and she got really sick... they did everything they could, but it was too late...the cancer spread too fast. My brother came down and told me, his words breaking off. "Emmie died" that was the day my world ended. Everything was bleak. I would come home and pray and hope she would just be there, waiting for me on the couch, but she never was. I always blame myself, and I always will. I loved her so damn much, and I'm happy she's not suffering anymore, but I would do anything to have her back. The day she died, she took my heart with her. She was only 3 years old. To this day, I still miss you and haven't had a friend like you, and I don't think I ever will. I will never forget you, you will be in my heart forever.
I wish I could have had more time with you, but I wouldn't change a thing. You were perfect in every single way. I will love you forever beautiful baby girl.

This is to you, Emmie, the best friend a girl could ever have, a dog with a heart of gold. You didn't deserve this at all, I don't know why it happened, but I know I'll see you again someday, and I can't wait. I hope you had the time of your life. I'm so thankful for the memories, so honored to know such a beautiful, inspiring, strong, and wonderful puppy. Those were the three best years of my life, and I hope they were good for you, too. Rest easy hun. Cute red heart! ♥

I'm sorry, I know how hard it is to lose a pet. I had a pug named Heidi, my dad and mom got her before I was born. once I came along, she pooped on my floor. I guess I was taking all the attention away from her. But once I got older, we became best friends! She'd walk into each room every morning to make sure we were okay and we'd play tug of war with my dads old socks.

As she got older though, she was starting to have trouble with her back legs. She couldn't get up our porch that easily and sometimes would go to the bathroom inside. She got to the point of once she was outside, she couldn't get back in. That last night with her, was heart wrenching I couldn't sleep. My parents put her down when I was at school the next day. It was the hardest for my dad, because she was like his baby(Heidi and he were very close). She's now buried in our woods, resting in peace.

I'm sorry for both of your losses. I lost a grandpa too, in a extremely unpeaceful way, where it was his choice to die or not, with the help of a chair and a rope... and the worst part was, he did it on my seventh birthday. I lost Emmie the around the same time I lost my grandpa.

I bet Emmie and Heidi are playing with eachother in paradise. <3

I may not have a dog anymore, but still. This story just reminds me of my first dog, Patches. PM me for more info.
